Bespoke Wooden Airplane Playground
Bespoke wooden playground structure in the shape of an aircraft, designed for high-traffic public spaces. This project successfully won the official public tender for installation at the Brussels Airport plane-spotting deck. Developed using a hybrid pipeline of hand sketches, AI-assisted concept optimization, and precise solid-body engineering in Autodesk Fusion 360. Fully compliant with European safety standards (EN 1176).
01. Concept Generation
The design process began with hand-drawn sketches and AI-assisted visualization tools to rapidly create concept variations. This pipeline allowed for swift client feedback and accelerated design approval.
02. Engineering & CAD Modeling (Fusion 360)
The entire structure was engineered in Autodesk Fusion 360 as a solid-body assembly. Precision modeling for handcrafted timber production.
03. EN 1176 Compliance & Safety Integration
The structure was fully engineered to comply with EN 1176 standards. All potential entrapment hazards (head, neck, and fingers) were systematically eliminated during the 3D modeling stage, and critical fall heights (CFH) were strictly mapped to specify appropriate impact-attenuating surfacing.
04. Two Product Variants
Two variants (short and long) were presented to the client. Both are engineered primarily using premium outdoor timbers. The play structure integrates multiple interactive levels, offering a multi-sensory play experience.
